Power Platform covers many business needs, but a serious project always ends up asking for a Dataverse plug-in, a custom interface component, a connector to an internal API or an agent that acts inside the application. This course, the official successor to PL-400, teaches you to extend Power Platform with code and to integrate AI into it, cleanly and in a maintainable way.

Three days to develop on Power Platform in the age of agents

You design the technical architecture of a solution, set up ALM with pipelines and Build Tools, write client scripts and PCF components, then discover Power Apps code apps. On the server side, you develop plug-ins and custom APIs, call the Dataverse Web API, offload heavy processing to Azure Functions and build custom connectors. The course finally brings in Microsoft Foundry and Copilot Studio agents, and prepares you for the AB-400 exam.

[1488,1494
1262,2831
post-255024","formations","type-formations","status-publish","hentry","editeurs-microsoft","editeurs-power-platform-microsoft","domaine-development","domaine-no-code-development
["Avancé

Certifiant

Genève","Lausanne
presentiel","virtuel
["Temptraining

Design the technical architecture of a Power Platform solution and decide where business logic belongs

Set up ALM with solutions, environment variables and Power Platform Pipelines

Extend the user experience with client scripting, PCF components and Power Apps code apps

Develop Dataverse plug-ins and custom APIs

Integrate external services with the Dataverse Web API, Azure Functions and custom connectors

Connect a Power Platform solution to Microsoft Foundry and Copilot Studio agents

Hands-on experience with Power Platform services: Power Apps, Power Automate and Dataverse

Development experience in JavaScript or TypeScript, and some C# or Python

Basic knowledge of REST APIs and Azure. Developer course on 30 October 2026. AB-400 is its official replacement and keeps the same certification, Microsoft Certified: Power Platform Developer Associate, now earned through the AB-400 exam. The change goes beyond the number. PL-400 trained a developer to fill the gaps of low-code. AB-400 trains a developer who designs solutions where code, Dataverse data and AI agents work together.

The course also goes from five days to three. The foundations remain: plug-ins, the Dataverse Web API, PCF components, client scripting, custom connectors and ALM. They are covered more tightly to make room for what is new in the platform.

What is new compared with PL-400

Three topics arrive. Power Apps code apps let you build an interface entirely in code, with your usual framework, while still benefiting from Power Platform connections, Dataverse data and governance. MCP servers expose Power Platform data and actions to agents. Finally, a whole skill group covers Microsoft Foundry agents built in code and connected to Power Platform, and consuming Copilot Studio agents from an application.

Architecture also carries more weight. Before writing a line, you have to decide: code or standard configuration, plug-in or flow, standard or virtual table, Foundry or Copilot Studio. These trade-offs account for up to a fifth of the exam.

Industrialisation is the third thread of the course. Power Platform Pipelines and Build Tools automate moving from one environment to the next, environment variables remove hard-coded values, and managed identity replaces secrets stored in plug-ins and Azure Functions. These are exactly the points that separate an extension that works in a demo from one a team can maintain for years.

The Power Platform Developer Associate certification

The AB-400 exam assesses four areas, with an indicative weight published by Microsoft:

Build Microsoft Power Platform solutions: 15 to 20%

Extend the user experience: 25 to 30%

Extend Microsoft Power Platform: 35 to 40%

Develop integrations: 10 to 15%

The heaviest block, extending the platform, groups plug-ins, APIs, Azure Functions, advanced flows and Foundry agents. It is also where hands-on experience makes the difference. The exam is booked with Microsoft and remains optional.

Where AB-400 fits in the Power Platform path

If your role is to assemble applications and agents without writing code, the Build intelligent applications (AB-410) training is the right entry point, and an excellent preparation for AB-400. If you mostly build agents in Copilot Studio, the Design and build integrated AI agent solutions in Copilot Studio (AB-620) training is a better fit. To build AI applications in code directly on Azure, look at Develop AI apps and agents on Azure (AI-103).

Preparing for the three days

The pace is fast: fifteen skill groups in three days. Come with a development environment you know well, Visual Studio Code or Visual Studio, and refresh your Dataverse basics if you have not used it recently. Ideally, bring a real extension in mind, a plug-in to write or an integration to build, so you can test each module against your own need. The labs stay available for 180 days after the session, which leaves time to replay the exercises before the exam.

Frequently asked questions

I am PL-400 certified: should I take AB-400?

Your certification stays valid until it expires and is renewed on Microsoft Learn. AB-400 becomes the reference exam for the same certification: the training brings you up to date on code apps, MCP and agents, which are part of the renewal assessment.

Why three days instead of five for PL-400?

Microsoft tightened the course around the skills assessed by the AB-400 exam. The foundations are still there, but without the long platform discovery sequences. That is why prior Power Platform experience is expected.

Which languages are used during the course?

Mainly JavaScript and TypeScript for the interface and C# for plug-ins, with Power Fx, JSON and YAML depending on the module. Python appears with the Dataverse SDK. You do not need to master all of them, but you do need to be able to read code.

Does the course cover Power Pages?

Power Pages is part of the ecosystem presented, but the exam and the course focus on Dataverse, model-driven apps, code apps, flows and integrations.

Do I need an Azure subscription?

Not during the training: the exercises run in the official Microsoft labs. To reproduce the Azure Functions, Application Insights or Microsoft Foundry modules at work, however, you will need an Azure subscription in addition to your Power Platform environment.

Training provided by a certified trainer

180 days of access to Official Microsoft Labs

Official documentation in digital format

Official Microsoft achievement badge

Training provided by a certified trainer

180 days of access to Official Microsoft Labs

Official documentation in digital format

Official Microsoft achievement badge

AB-400 Training: Power Platform Developer - ITTA

<meta name="description" content="AB-400 training: extend Power Platform with code and AI, the successor to PL-400. 3 days, official Microsoft labs.
