The WordPress and Dreamweaver training takes you from simple installation to publishing a professional website. Across three intensive days, you discover WordPress installation on a local server, the Dreamweaver environment, theme customisation, CSS editing, child theme creation and plugin management. An ideal approach for creative professionals and webmasters in French-speaking Switzerland who want to master a complete WordPress + Dreamweaver workflow.

Combining WordPress and Dreamweaver means keeping full control of your professional website

For web designers, webmasters and entrepreneurs based in Geneva or Lausanne, being autonomous on the creation and maintenance of a professional website is a strong asset. The course focuses on real-world use: installing WordPress locally, choosing and customising a theme, working on the CSS via Dreamweaver, adding plugins, exporting and importing content. You work on your own project and leave with a working site and a complete method ready to reproduce.

Objectives

  • Set up a web / MySQL / PHP development environment
  • Install a WordPress site and set it in Dreamweaver

  • Choose a theme and customize a basic theme
  • Refine styles in a child theme
  • Choose useful extensions for his site
  • Publish, export and import a WordPress site

Prerequisites

  • A good understanding of HTML5 and CSS
  • An ease with Adobe tools
  • An experience on a CMS platform similar to WordPress
  • A good understanding of the ecosystem of a website

  • Module 1: Server, Database, Installing and Defining a WP Site
  • Module 2: Exploring the live preview in Dreamweaver
  • Module 3: Exploring Live Code and Inspection Mode in Dreamweaver
  • Module 4: Publication in wordPress: articles, pages, taxonomies, markup
  • Module 5: Working with a theme in WordPress
  • Module 6: Create a Kids Theme with Dreamweaver, Include TypeKit Fonts
  • Module 7: Choosing plugins; plugin tests
  • Module 8: The import-export plugin; publish with an FTP; export with phpMyAdmin
