PRINCE2: the European structured project management method
PRINCE2 (PRojects IN Controlled Environments) is a widely used tool method in project management, originally created by the British government and now owned by PeopleCert and AXELOS. Widely adopted by European administrations, international organisations based in Geneva, British and Swiss financial institutions, and large public programmes, PRINCE2 structures projects around 7 principles, 7 themes and 7 processes. In Geneva, Lausanne and across French-speaking Switzerland, PRINCE2 remains widely demanded in project manager job descriptions, particularly in cantonal administrations, international organisations and public transformation programmes.
ITTA offers the complete catalogue of PRINCE2 certifications: PRINCE2 Foundation for the fundamentals, PRINCE2 Practitioner for the practical application of the method, PRINCE2 Agile Foundation and Practitioner for the articulation between PRINCE2 and Agile approaches. Our trainers are PRINCE2 Practitioner-certified and practise as project managers or consultants active in transformation programmes for Swiss and international companies.
Following a recognised PRINCE2 training opens access to valued roles: project manager, programme manager, PMO officer, transformation consultant, portfolio manager. The PRINCE2 certification is particularly expected in European contexts (cantonal administrations, international organisations based in Geneva, Swiss public programmes) and constitutes a natural complement to PMP for profiles covering both North American and European contexts.
Whether you are a beginner project manager, confirmed project manager in evolution, business profile taking project responsibility, transformation consultant or PMO officer, our PRINCE2 training in Geneva and Lausanne provides the methods and common vocabulary to pass your target PRINCE2 certification.

PRINCE2 Foundation
The PRINCE2 Foundation training lays the method basics: 7 principles (continued business justification, learn from experience, defined roles and responsibilities, manage by exception, focus on products, tailor to suit project, etc.), 7 themes (business case, organisation, quality, plans, risks, change, progress) and 7 processes (starting up, initiating, controlling a stage, managing product delivery, etc.). This training is accessible to beginner profiles and constitutes the mandatory foundation before PRINCE2 Practitioner.
PRINCE2 Practitioner
The PRINCE2 Practitioner training deepens the practical application of the method in a concrete project. The programme covers PRINCE2 tailoring to the project context, theme management in practice, process conduct, the use of management products (business case, plans, registers). This certification is expected from confirmed project managers actively driving PRINCE2 projects and constitutes the target level for senior job descriptions in European administrations.
PRINCE2 Agile Foundation and Practitioner
PRINCE2 Agile combines the PRINCE2 method with Agile approaches (Scrum, Kanban, XP), particularly useful for profiles driving projects in hybrid PRINCE2-Agile environments. Foundation and Practitioner follow the same progression as the classic PRINCE2 branch. This dual skill is increasingly demanded in digital transformation contexts.
Articulation with ITIL and the AXELOS portfolio
PRINCE2 is part of the AXELOS portfolio that also includes ITIL (IT service management), MSP (Managing Successful Programmes) and MoP (Management of Portfolios). Profiles combining PRINCE2 project management and ITIL IT governance have a particularly transverse view appreciated by transformation recruiters.
The PRINCE2 ecosystem and complementary certifications
PRINCE2 fits into a broader project management ecosystem. The project management sub-domain regroups PRINCE2, PMI and hybrid methods. Agile and Scrum training brings PSM, PSPO and SAFe certifications, naturally complementary to PRINCE2 Agile. The business analysis sub-domain covers IIBA and PMI-PBA certifications for BA profiles. Change management APMG training accompanies project managers on change conduct. The IT service management domain covers ITIL, another AXELOS certification naturally complementary to PRINCE2.
PRINCE2 trends in 2026
Several evolutions are shaping PRINCE2 in 2026. PRINCE2 7th edition (published in 2023) modernises the method with stronger attention on sustainability, security, diversity and adaptation to hybrid contexts. PRINCE2 Agile continues to gain visibility in organisations combining classic management and agility. PeopleCert, which now owns AXELOS, harmonises PRINCE2 and ITIL certifications with a unified exam and renewal platform. European recognition of PRINCE2 remains a strong asset in Swiss cantonal administrations, international organisations and public programmes. Our pedagogical content regularly integrates these evolutions to remain aligned with current company practices.

FAQ
Is project experience required before PRINCE2 Foundation?
No. PRINCE2 Foundation is accessible to profiles without prior project experience. It lays the vocabulary and the method. For PRINCE2 Practitioner, a few months of project experience is highly recommended to fully leverage the training.
PMP or PRINCE2: which to choose?
PMP is more recognised internationally (USA, Asia, global international organisations), PRINCE2 is more present in European administrations and British organisations. Many profiles follow both according to their client context. In Geneva, the UN and international organisations accept both, while Swiss cantonal administrations often favour PRINCE2.
Does PRINCE2 Agile replace Scrum certifications?
No. PRINCE2 Agile combines PRINCE2 with Agile approaches on the governance and structure side. Scrum certifications (PSM, PSPO) remain dedicated to the Scrum framework specifically. Many profiles follow both types of certifications to cover project governance and Agile practices.
Are your PRINCE2 courses available for companies?
Yes, the entire PRINCE2 catalogue is available in-house, in Geneva, Lausanne and in virtual classroom, with a programme adapted to your internal project methodologies. Our team builds the specifications with you and organises sessions according to your calendar.
